On behalf of the GRS Executive Committee,
During the Georgia Radiological Society Board meeting, we had much discussion about whether or not to proceed with the in-person meeting at the King and Prince scheduled to be held 4-6 June 2021. After much deliberation by the executive board, with thoughtful and considered input from the Education Committee members and our speakers and moderators, we have decided that the COVID situation remains too unpredictable to proceed. We also took into account the fact the ACR annual meeting will be remote, and other national organizations holding meetings around and even after ours have elected to proceed virtually.. The business meeting will be held virtually on Sunday, 6 June 2021, with details to follow under separate cover.
Sincerely,
GRS Executive Board
SAVE THE DATE: Please join us for a virtual annual GRS business meeting Sunday, June 6, 2020, 8:30 AM. The agenda will include the proposed 2021-22 GRS Councilor slate, a legislative update, and a review of GRS finances. Meeting information will follow.
On behalf of the GRS Executive Committee,
During the Georgia Radiological Society Board meeting, we had much discussion about whether or not to proceed with the in-person meeting at the King and Prince scheduled to be held 12-14 June 2020. The very tough decision to cancel the meeting was made. The business meeting will be held virtually on Sunday, 14 June 2020, with details to follow under separate cover.
In looking forward, next year’s GRS meeting will be held 4-6 June 2021, at the King and Prince.
Of note, the King and Prince will be automatically cancelling hotel reservations and will return any deposits charged. However, they have graciously extended the negotiated group rate to our members + an additional 10% discount by just clicking the link below and scrolling over to June on the calendar. The discount is valid June 1-30, 2020, based on availability. I tried the link earlier and in spite of the message in red stating “We could not find this code. Please re-enter your code,” I was able to move on to room selection by clicking on “confirm dates of stay.”
Please accept my apologies for the obvious inconvenience and please feel free to contact me with any questions,
Sincerely,
Amanda Corey, MD, FACR
GRS Education Committee Chair

The ACR/SBI Screening Leaders Group has created highly useful and sharable content to help address controversies around screening for breast cancer with imaging. Please explore these resources and share them with your patients, as well as radiology and non-radiology colleagues. An educational slide deck is available on the ACR website that can be accessed for free by logging in. It can be use in whole or in part to give lectures, lunch-and-learns, etc. to help increase understanding around the benefits of screening.

From Katie Kuhn, Engage Community Manager:
The ACR encourages all state chapters to pledge to the Image Wisely campaign as an Association and Educational Program. The campaign was created in 2010 by a joint ACR/RSNA task force with assistance from the AAPM and ASRT to raise awareness and provide educational material about safety when imaging with ionizing radiation. Please consider showing your chapter’s support for this important initiative by visiting www.imagewisely.org to take the pledge.
